— School

The new secondary school in Sion consists of a substantial program that will have an impact on the site and existing buildings. Rather than proposing a single volume whose massing would contradict the urban morphology, the project is composed of multiple volumes that articulate interior and exterior spaces in dialogue with one another.

A pedestrian passage is created on the ground floor to ensure permeability between the center of Sion and the cultural center of the Ferme Asile. The river is integrated into the school grounds, the volumes are staggered to reduce visual impact, the auditorium is suspended above the ground-level passage, and corridor widths are adjusted according to the number of classrooms: an organic architecture offering a playful and engaging learning environment.
