The site of the nursing home in Cullaye is located in a high-quality natural setting, characterized by views over a rural landscape of fields and forests, as well as abundant vegetation that provides a sense of calm and serenity—an essential quality for elderly residents.

The surrounding built environment consists of small-scale buildings, freely arranged across the plots, with overall landscape cohesion maintained through the presence of dense vegetation.

The Trifolié project draws on these site-defining elements to inform its layout and morphology.

Rather than imposing a structure that might conflict with its surroundings, the new building seeks to engage in dialogue with the site through an organic form articulated in three branches connected by a central space—like a plant whose independent parts belong to a unified whole.

The north and south wings are aligned with the length of the site, while the third branch extends westward, marking the entrance area along the Route du Signal.

This articulated form allows for the preservation of existing trees and the creation of outdoor areas that flow naturally from the interior spaces: the main entrance to the west, communal areas to the east, staff areas to the south, and service access to the north.

A pitched roof spans the three wings in a unified manner, giving the building a simple form that echoes the existing “mother house” and the surrounding context—an architecture that feels timeless.
