— Gymnastics and Rhythmic Hall – 2nd Prize

The Marcelin educational campus is composed of several building volumes arranged around a central courtyard. This configuration was only partially completed due to the cancellation of the planned sports hall, leaving the connection to the existing buildings undefined. The proposed project aims to complete this system.

Rather than emerging like the other structures on site, the new volume aligns itself with the level of the covered walkway. A large horizontal roof unfolds and adapts to the various connection points within the complex.

The layout and typological organization primarily aim to create outdoor spaces that can link the different activities across the site.

To further emphasize the integration of the new sports hall into the outdoor environment, the structure is designed as a system of glued-laminated timber beams, between which wooden coffered slabs are inserted. Steel tie rods reduce the height of the timber beams, allowing for material savings.
