— Village Center

The Michel zone site is defined by a plateau located approximately 3.5 meters above the main road, connecting to the Vergers area.
This elevated position opens up long views of the surrounding landscape and separates the new community center’s activities from the noise and disruptions of the road below.

The LA BALEINE BLEUE project enhances the qualities of this exceptional topography by proposing a public space that organizes various pedestrian access routes and creates a clearly identifiable village center, capable of becoming the heart of community life in Courtaman.

The building’s architecture is minimalist, with façades distinguished by locally sourced wooden overhangs that help manage solar gains.

The upstairs patio serves as a spatial centerpiece for the daycare, while also providing natural cooling through operable openings and ensuring child safety.
